No. We don't take a deposit or put a hold on your card — you pay the $40 and nothing else up front. In exchange you sign a short rental agreement making you responsible for the camera while you have it (replacement value $2,000), and there's a late-return fee if it comes back more than 15 minutes late. We'd rather trust you and be clear about it than hold your money.
There's a 15-minute grace period, free. After that: $50 up to half an hour late, $100 to 45 minutes, $150 to an hour, and $400 beyond that. There's one camera, so a late return usually means cancelling someone else's match. Full details in the rental agreement.
